La Pastorita Farm
The history of La Pastorita farm dates back to 1965, referring to the year in which Marino Villarraga and his wife Edid Bermúdez acquired this beautiful 5-hectare traditional coffee farm located at 1800 meters above sea level, a year that began a family tradition that lasts to this day with the 4th generation of farmers.
Although it was an area where mining was practiced, Manzanares is located on mountainous land rich in nutrients typical of volcanic soils in the central Colombian mountain range, surrounded by tropical forest, abundant water tributaries and varied thermal sensations during the day and night, which led to this area gradually migrating towards agriculture. Today, coffee cultivation predominates with 80% but sugarcane and banana are also grown.
To this day, the Villarraga Bermudez family manages the La Pastorita farm with the aim of promoting coffee culture based on sustainability (social, economic and environmental) and in this way being able to optimize and conserve the natural resources available in the environment.
